Sustainability
Where is Ban-dia swimwear made?
All Ban-dia pieces are handcrafted in the UK in collaboration with Studio Sew.n Ltd, a small, independent manufacturing studio based in Gloucester. Working locally allows us to maintain close relationships, transparency, and a high standard of craftsmanship throughout production.
Why do you produce in small runs or to order?
We choose small-batch and made-to-order production to reduce excess stock and unnecessary waste. This slower approach allows us to focus on quality, fit, and longevity, creating swimwear designed to be worn, loved, and kept, rather than replaced.
What materials do you use?
Our fabrics are carefully selected from trusted Italian and UK suppliers, chosen for their performance, durability, and feel against the skin. Where possible, materials and components are sourced thoughtfully to support longevity and reduce waste.
How do you minimise waste during production?
Waste is reduced through careful pattern cutting, efficient use of fabric, and small-scale production. Offcuts are kept to a minimum, and each piece is made with intention rather than volume.
Is Ban-dia a sustainable brand?
We view sustainability as a journey, not a fixed destination. For us, it’s about making better choices, producing thoughtfully, supporting skilled craftsmanship, and valuing the time and hands behind each garment. We prioritise progress over perfection.
Why don’t you mass produce?
Mass production often comes at the cost of quality, transparency, and people. By producing on a smaller scale, we can maintain accountability, ensure consistent standards, and stay true to our values, prioritising quality over quantity.
How can customers care for their swimwear sustainably?
Proper care extends the life of your swimwear. We recommend gentle hand washing, avoiding harsh chemicals, and following the care instructions provided with each piece. Longevity is one of the most meaningful forms of sustainability.
What does sustainability mean to Ban-dia?
It means intention. Thoughtful design, responsible production, skilled hands, and garments made to last beyond a single season. Sustainability, for us, is woven into how we create, not added as an afterthought.
